- Extra virgin olive oil
How To Make and Cook Honey Mustard Chicken
To make this delicious honey mustard chicken recipe:
- MARINATE: Marinate the chicken breasts with the marinade ingredients and the spices for a couple of hours or more, in the fridge. The marinade will add flavour to the chicken breasts and make them very juicy!
- BAKE: Preheat the oven to 180o C. Put a grilling rack in a baking tray. (You can put the chicken directly on the grilling rack but I prefer to line it with parchment paper and with a knife make some holes so that the juices will fall in the baking tray and keep the rack clean). Bake in a preheated fan forced oven for about 15 minutes. Turn them over and baste them with the leftover marinade and bake for 10 more minutes.
- GRILL: Instead of baking them you can grill them. Grill the chicken breasts on an electric griller or bbq over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes on each side (this can vary based on thickness).
Note: I had two large and one smaller chicken breasts to bake. The two large ones which were around 200 grams each took about 25 minutes to cook. The smaller one which was about 150 grams, I took it out of the oven 3 minutes earlier. When the bigger ones were ready, I put it back together with the others and turned the grill and air on and baked for another 10 minutes to get them golden on top!
As the chicken breasts were thick, I cut them open in the middle and then pound them to make them a little bit thinner and more even.
What to serve them with
We don’t eat fried food very often so my daughter asked me to make some Greek fried potatoes and a salad to serve with the chicken fillets.
However, if you don’t want fried potatoes, there are so many other options to go with this recipe, such as:
- Mashed potatoes
- Fried Potatoes in the air fryer
- Horta (boiled wild greens)
- A Greek salad
- Potato Salad
- Rice Pilaf
- Bulgur wheat Pilaf (meatless), as a side
- With other delicious veggies like steamed broccoli or even Grilled Asparagus.
What to do with leftovers
If you have leftovers you can make:
- Chicken salad
- Bulgur Wheat Pilaf chopping the meat into smaller pieces and adding it to the pilaf, to eat it as a main dish.
- Use it to make sandwiches.
The chicken breasts were very juicy and delicious.
Apart from the Greek Fried potatoes and the salad, I served it with a Homemade Greek Dipping Sauce, which was perfect for this dish.
This Sauce is sweet and tangy by mixing together just a few simple ingredients already at your fingertips to make the ultimate dip.
Further down in the post you will find the recipe for the Homemade Sauce.
