I have been making this recipe for many years. In fact I have posted it on my Greek blog since 2008 and I don’t remember why I have never posted it on my English blog.

A few days ago, I made this dessert again and took some new pictures.

When I decided to update the post with these pictures, I found out that I had never posted it. So, here it is:

When I first made this recipe, I used a Cypriot V.S.O.P. brandy, which has long gone. This time I used an equally good quality of Metaxa brandy.

Ingredients for brandy infused macerated strawberries:

  • Fresh strawberries
  • Granulated sugar
  • Good quality brandy

Preparation: Begin by washing the strawberries under cold water. Remove the stems and slice them into halves or quarters, depending on their size. Place the sliced strawberries in a mixing bowl.

Maceration: Sprinkle the granulated sugar over the strawberries, ensuring each piece is lightly coated. Drizzle the brandy over the sugared strawberries, allowing the rich aroma to permeate the fruit. Gently toss the strawberries to ensure they are evenly coated with the sugar and brandy mixture.

Rest and Infuse: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid and let the strawberries macerate in the fridge, for at least one hour. During this time, the sugar will dissolve, drawing out the natural juices of the strawberries while the brandy infuses its intoxicating flavour into every bite.

Serving: After an hour of maceration, your Brandy-Infused Macerated Strawberries are ready to delight the senses. Serve them in elegant dessert bowls or wine glasses, allowing their vibrant hues to entice the eye. Accompany them with a dollop of creamy Greek yogurt or a swirl of freshly whipped cream to balance the sweetness with a hint of tanginess. For a truly decadent experience, pair them with other desserts featuring cream, such as panna cotta, mahalepi or vanilla ice cream.
