Sweet and Sour Turkey
This amazing Asian inspired Sweet and Sour Turkey, is cooked in a sauce with bell peppers, carrot and pineapple, orange juice, pineapple juice, honey and vinegar, which makes the sauce delicious.
This recipe was given to me by a friend, years ago before I started blogging and I didn't think back then to ask her where she got this recipe from.

Until today this is one of my favourite recipes and as the sauce is sweet and sour, it's one of those meals that you feel that you don't need a dessert afterwards 🙂

How to make the Sweet and Sour Turkey
You will need two pots:
Prepare the sweet and sour sauce:
In a saucepan heat half the olive oil and sauté the onion, until translucent.
Add the bell peppers, the carrots, the pineapple, as well as the pineapple juice, the orange juice, the honey, the vinegar, the tomato and tomato paste, salt and pepper and bring to a boil.

Prepare the turkey:
In a bigger saucepan heat the remaining olive oil and sauté the turkey on all sides.
Pour the beer and wait until the alcohol evaporates. Pour all the sauce to the turkey (no additional water is necessary).
Cook for about 1 – 1 ½ hours until the turkey is tender and the sauce thickens.
If the sauce needs thickening dissolve the corn flour ( corn starch) with the milk and add it to the turkey, stirring for a couple of minutes.

Serve with Rice Pilaf.

Du sucré, salé, un de nos plats préférés
ahhh ... sweet and sour dish is great! It tastes even better using pineapple. You must try the gravy using seafood. It's even better as it cuts down fishy taste. Don't forget to keep the pineapple skin if you are using fresh pineapple for Pineapple Fried Rice.
People eat here alot of turkey ... whichis I guess healthy for you! I love sweet and sour chicken so I can imagine turkey version is also great! Love the colours in the pic Ivy as usual your dishes look so apetitizing!
I would never have thought of using turkey in a sweet and sour dish but it is such a great idea! 🙂

Je prends note de ta recette.
A bientôt.
Sounds so flavorful Ivy. Would love to try it ... a light yet filling meal.
A wonderful dish, hint of the tropics with the pineapple. Nice to see turkey more prevalent in the Greek markets.
Pare gustoasa tocanita, iar carnea e bine facuta..felicitari pentru reteta.
Ivy, thanks for the email and the screenshot. I haven't figured the problem out. I think it might be time for me to change another template.
Sweet and sour sauce is like a magic sauce...works not only with poultry, beef, but also with seafood.
YUM!! This looks absolutely delicious! I've never had sweet & sour w/ turkey before. Love the beer in there, too 😀
