Milkshake with 3 fruit, ice cream and whipped cream

Milkshake is a cold drink made with milk, fruit or other ingredients, such as chocolate and sugar or other sweetening such as honey or syrup.

It is processed in a blender until the fruit are pureed and becomes a frothy drink.

For a richer milkshake, you can also add ice cream or whipped cream.

When my children were younger, they didn't eat a lot of fruit except for my daughter.

The boys were rather lazy to wash and peel fruit to eat, and would only eat fruit such as bananas or other fruit which were washed and ready to eat, such as grapes, strawberry, stone fruit etc.

So I had to peel them to get them to eat some.

What they liked very much was milkshakes and sometimes instead of giving them plain fruit to eat I prepared them a milk shake.

How to make a homemade Milkshake:

You will need:

A blender

Tall Glasses

Straws

A spoon

A hand mixer (for the whipped cream)

Prepare the whipped cream and refrigerate.

Peel and cut the fruit of your choice into large chunks.  If using stone fruit, remove the stone.  If using fruit with seeds, remove the seeds.

Put them in the blender.

Add the sweetening of your preference:  sugar, honey, flavoured syrup, etc.

Add the milk and vanilla.

If it is very hot and you want the milkshake very cold, add a few ice cubes.

Add the lid on top.

Blend all the ingredients until frothy.

Pour your milkshake into a tall glass to serve.

It tastes great straight-up or topped with some ice cream and a tower of whipped cream, which, of course, means more calories!.

  1. Ah, so I should consider myself lucky that my 6 year old will eat every fruit on the planet? With the skin on too? Yay!

I like the recipe for the milkshakes that you posted... that there seems to be more milk than ice cream. It's got to be a little better for you than pure ice cream, right?

  2. Psychgrad, to be frank I usually make it with milk, honey and fruit and they love it like a flavourful milk. I rarely make it with ice cream and whipped cream and today I prepared it like this, just for the event and of course they were thrilled.

RecipeGirl, you really are lucky that your daughter eats a lot of fruit, however, I am not sure about the skin being left on. I know that all the vitamins are in the skin but I am afraid of all the pesticides they use, even if we wash them thoroughly.

  3. Ivy..first of all congrats on moving into your own domain...

lovely milkshakes...do send them to My Calcium rich event!

For 101 recipe event, yes of course you can send old entries..but just repost them linking back to the event details....

  4. That is a very good way to make your children eat some fruit. I love fruit and I always ate too much of it, but my sister was another story. My mom suffered making her eat any kind of fruit. LOL

    Great recipe my friend 😀

  5. It seems that it worked the opposite way round in your family but there are a few fruit they do not even want to taste, such as figs which are my favourite but I don't think I can use them in milkshakes.
