Celebrating Mother’s Day

Sharing is caring!

Mother, mamma, mamman, maa, mutter, madre, mere, mãe, meme, kryemurgeshë, matka, inahan, majka, abatyse, moeder, moer, ema, màna (μάνα), makuahine, anya, nay, induk or in whatever other language this is probably the first word we learn and the sweetest of all.

The modern Mother’s Day holiday was created by Anna Jarvis as a day for each family to honour its mother, and it’s now celebrated on various days in many places around the world.

Different countries celebrate Mother’s Day on various days of the year because the day has a number
of different origins but since a lot of countries celebrate it the second week of May, I chose this date.

In order to honour our mother let’s cook or bake something she loved or something we shall make especially for her and tell her that we love her or pay a tribute to her memory if she isn’t with us.

Here’s are the rules:

1. Post a recipe of a dish your mother would make or a dish you are making especially for her. You may write anything you like about your mother or dedicate a song to her, write a small poem for her, post a photograph of your mother or honour her in any other way you like.

2. The posts may be written anytime from today until the 10th of May. We shall celebrate mother’s Day with the round-up on the 10th of May, so that you can surprise your mother with your post.

3. Please e-mail your entries at ivyliac AT gmail DOT com. Posts must contain the phrase Celebrating Mother’s Day and must include a link to Kopiaste.. to Greek Hospitality.   Feel free to use the logo if you like.

4. In your email please include Celebrating Mother’s Day in the subject as well as the following information:

  • Your Name
  • Your Blog Name/URL
  • Your Post URL
  • Your Location
  • Attach
    a photo (300px wide)

5. For those not having a food related blog but would like to participate you may post your recipe and memories herel

6.  The roundup will be posted on the 10th May, Sunday Night (Athens time).
