WORLD FOOD DAY ROUND UP

Sharing is caring!

Today is World Food Day…a day set aside by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations….

This day has been celebrated each year on October 16th since 1945. The theme for this years conference is “World Food Security: the Challenges of Climate Change and Bioenergy.”

My blog sister Val, of More than Burnt Toast, and I wish to thank you all for participating and please visit her blog to see the roundup.

The WFD may be today the 16th October but hunger does not end today. We wish to continue to increase awareness and understanding and take action and do all we can year round to alleviate hunger.

November is the month Thanksgiving is celebrated in the United States. It is a time for remembering, cherishing and being thankful for all the good things we have been blessed with. We do not have a similar celebration in Greece or in Cyprus, where I come from, but I am thankful for what I have and I am sure that there are a lot of other bloggers who share my feelings.

So even if we do not celebrate Thanksgiving, we shall prepare anything we like, something festive. It may be a main dish, a side dish a salad or dessert and alongside the food we shall also be glad, to hear why you are thankful.

For those who are celebrating you may wish to share one of your prized recipes or even decorating ideas for the holiday, or to recommend things that have worked for you, or great tips you’ve gleaned elsewhere.

Let’s all be grateful for what we have and never forget that there are people out there needing our help. This month is about celebrating and being thankful, but, rest assured that we are working on this and have asked Giz, of Equal Opportunity Kitchen, to help on future events and shall let you know soon what we are preparing.”

I want to thank you all for supporting this Event and rest assured that we (Val, Giz and I) are working hard to find ways to support this program not only by bringing awareness but more substantially.

I shall be glad and grateful if you continue supporting us not only by posting on your blogs but we shall need more personal help from each one of you and we shall let you know more about this in the months to come.

Hi Ivy, Loved the event & the round-up. It's a brilliant idea & I think the November theme is full of meaning too. Thanksgiving & being grateful for what we have, & trying to share with others, is basically what life is all about. xoxoxo Deeba
