Louvi, as we call it in Cyprus, are the black eyed beans. Although the word “louvi” is ancient Greek from lovion, plural lovia (λόβιον, πλ. λόβια), in Greece this word is not used any more. Instead, they are called fassolia mavrommatika, which means black-eyed peas.

Kolokassi (taro) is not popular in Greece but we love it in Cyprus. Today I am posting a recipe you have never saw on the internet and I am sure you all want to see something new for a change, as it is one of my original concoctions. I made it with avgolemono sauce.
Kolokassi, from its ancient name “colocasia esculenta”, known as taro, is a root vegetable prepared the same way as potato. Chirino me Kolokassi, is a recipe from the Cypriot cuisine, which is stewed pork with taro.
