My Paintings
Me in iconography classLANDSCAPE
My first oil paintingExactly a year ago if someone would tell me that you could paint I would tell them that I am not even capable of drawing a straight line (furthermore to paint) and would laugh at them.
When I decided to close the bookshop and I was trying to find something to keep me occupied, I inquired at the Cultural Centre of my neighborhood and the choices I had were folklore dancing, painting, theatre and making puppets. From the four choices I had I preferred paining.
At the beginning everything seemed very difficult but with the techniques they showed us I am now proud to show off the results of my efforts. The most important thing I learnt during the lessons was to be patient and to look carefully at all the objects and try to distinguish the lines and the shadows. So, if this is something you like as a hobby do not hesitate to try it. You will be surprised by your skills!!!
The lessons for this year have started. I had my first lesson in painting last week and Byzantine painting will start next week. So it will take some time until I have something new ready.

Love the new blog, Ivy! Your paintings are absolutely wonderful, I can't believe you call yourself an amateur! They are much better than many I've seen at professional art shows. I hope you'll continue to post your latest works.

Hi Chef,
Thanks for your kind words. It will take some time until you see something new because actually now I have devoted all my time to make this blog functional. Until Christmas I believe I might have something ready.

I can see why you love to paint Ivy. You really have a lot of talent 😀 Did I tell you of the painting I found when I was in Greece. There were demonstrations in Athens and so as you know the roads can be closed so we left and stayed our first night in Delphi. The proprietor is an artist and I was the first to buy one of her paintings. She was very happya nd so was I 😀 I carried it every where with me for 5 weeks until I finally brought it home.
Thanks, Val, where on earth did you discover these 🙂 No, I didn't know about the painting you brought from Greece. I hope that one day she becomes very famous and you become rich.
Anyway, I think my paintings are still very naive. It was the first year I went to the painting classes and this year I only finished two paintings.
I love your Santorini and Red Daisy paintings. I want to learn to paint so bad!
