Blogging for a purpose

Sharing is caring!

Although I posted a recipe earlier, I was later honored to receive The Blogging for a Purpose award from Hetal, of Isha’s Kitchen, so I had to post about it and thank Hetal . Hetal, is a friend I have made recently but I believe it is a friendship that is growing steadily. Hetal is from India but now lives in Houston, Texas. She used to be a nutritionist but now is a “Domestic Goddess”, like most of us. Thank you Hetal very much.

So what is “Blogging with a Purpose?” I wondered? Where does it come from? I am a curious person and had to do some searching to see where it all started. Thanks to Google I found out that this is an award started back in April 2007 by Eric Novak who wanted to start a Christian award to recognise bloggers’ hard work and purpose, then was amused to receive his own award three months later! The very first few went to a few homeschoolers. Then they sent them on to their friends, who sent them on to their friends, and now the award has come from a foodie my way, and what other purpose do we foodies have? We all share the same love to cook and take care of our family, so that’s a good purpose for me.

Here are the original rules, as listed by Eric Novak in his site:

1. Awarded parties must nominate five people who have not received the award.

2. The blogs that receive the award must serve some purpose.

3. In their post about the award they need to link back to this entry.

4. Awarded parties must post the award banner on their site. The banner must remain linked to this site.

Now it’s my turn to pick five blogs I read that are examples of Blogging with a Purpose. That does not mean that the other blogs I read every day do not deserve this award but I had to choose only five, so I choose:

1.) Susan, from Food Blogga. Not only her blog is full of tasty recipes that I always want to try but she has made it her first priority to help other people with Osteoporosis.

2.) Lulu, of Mama’s Taverna, has made it her purpose to promote Greek Food and that’s more than enough for me.

3.) Val, of More than Burnt Toast. Yes, another food blog! I can’t help it, I’m obsessed with cooking, and this is yet another blog with the purpose of inspiring me to cook more. Yum!

4.) Peter, of Souvlaki for the Soul. Peter lives in Australia and cooks things that I haven’t even dreamt of, but it inspires me to expand my horizons and try new things. His pictures are perfect and every recipe looks beautiful!

5.) Swati, of Sugarcraft India. Swati is another friend from India and makes masterpieces made of sugar. You must check her blog, you will love it.

Hi Noor. It seems that your award traveled all over the world and came here in Greece as well. Thanks for stopping by and for your kind words.

I made the yum yum blog award just a few months to see where all she would end up and you would not believe the amazing food blogs she has ended up on. I have had so much fun seeing all of this and learning about more blogs and recipes along the way.

You deserve it!

Yia sou Ivy! Signomi for getting here late! I've just moved my blog over to another platform (and its taken forever).

Seriously, I thank you for the award and the generosity you show with this. It means a lot and I think we all find our purpose(s) differently, sooner or later.

Harika!

I'll be back soon...I promise. and again thank you!
